Today’s post is regarding a DOL WHD news bulletin dated 3/20/2020 where OSHA cited national discount retailer Dollar Tree Store Inc for exposing employees to safety hazards at their Foley, Alabama retail location. Dollar Tree Stores Inc has been fined $106,029 in penalties. Note, Dollar Tree Inc. was previously cited for a repeat violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.176(b), in 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 3395 Great Neck Rd.,
Amityville, NY 11701.
Repeat Violation – when an employer continues to violate a specific standard that is the same or similar to a violation identified by a previous OSHA investigation.
Dollar Tree Store Inc. had the following repeat violation:
29 CFR 1910.176(b): Material stored in tiers is not stacked, blocked, interlocked or limited in height so that it is stable and secure against sliding and collapse.
1910.176(b)Secure storage. Storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse.
